Well I have this hometown friend Rocky, you see. He has had a rough life. And right now he's in another rough spot, caring for his elderly mother without the family support he should be getting. So I thought I'd cheer him up.
Rocky has his own inimitable style but I decided to try to imitate it anyway, right down to the "I-don't-give-a-rat's ass" walk. So Thursday, my regular dart night, I put on a leather vest, a black vintage t-shirt, a leather bracelet, a biker belt, a floppy cap and some fake tatoos, and I walked into the bar as "Rockette."
Geri the bartender thought I was Rocky as I walked in, so I guess I pulled it off. I didn't have a goatee or mustache but still managed to fool a couple of regulars at the other end of the bar!
It was fun dressing up in drag and I think I cheered Rocky up a bit. You can see the pictures in an album on MySpace.
As you can see, I am not afraid to make a fool of myself for the amusement of my friends.
